How long does it take to get items from other libraries?
Turnaround time depends upon the availability of the item and the cooperation of the Lending Library.
Where should I return the library books I have borrowed?
Materials borrowed through Interlibrary Loan must be returned to the Connection Center desk on the 3rd floor of the CLC, the bookdrop located to the left of the CLC entrance, or the bookdrop located to the left of the of the McDonald Library entrance.
How am I notified my library materials have arrived?
An email will be sent notifying you of its availability. Loanable items will be held for 10 days at the Connection Center service desk for check-out during business hours. A second notice will be sent before the item is returned.
Articles are sent electronically to your Interlibrary Loan account within 1-7 business days. You will receive an email when it has been posted to your account.
How much does it cost?
Fees for Resource Sharing services are subsidized by Xavier University Library. You will be responsible for replacement fees if the item is lost.
How long can I keep materials?
Due dates and renewal availability are indicated on the book wrap. If you need to renew, and if the lending library allows it, you can renew through your ILL login.
Can I put ILL items on Reserve? Can you help me post an ILL article to my Canvas course?
Only Xavier owned materials may be placed on Reserve. If you would like the Library to order a book or DVD, please use the applicable link under Collection Development here.
In order to remain complaint with copyright law, only articles from faculty- or Xavier-owned journals should be scanned for use in Canvas. If you need Xavier Library to purchase an article or journal issue for use in Canvas, contact Sidnie Reed, reed@xavier.edu.
