Free Time Ideas

1) Lake Walter E. Long: If you want to take an afternoon and relax, think about going to the Lake Walter E. Long lake! Here it is only $5 admissions, where you swim, fish, have a picnic, and lounge looking at amazing views. This park is open Monday through Friday 8am to 4pm. This is a low priced way to spend the day!

2) Hope Farmers Market: There is a way to see downtown Austin AND not spend too much money. How? Hope Farmers Market! This market is located in the heart of downtown Austin and combines the very best of Austin culture: food, crafts, music, art, and community exchange. Passersby can find a little bit of everything, including farm-fresh produce, meat & dairy, tasty brunch, hot & cold drinks, beautiful gifts, and some of Austin's best free live music. This market is only open Sunday afternoons. Plan accordingly.

3) Bullock Texas State History Museum: Curious all about the history of Texas and its importance? You’re in luck! The Bullock Texas State History Museum has a variety of exhibits, films, and artifacts surrounding 4,000 years of Texas’s history. This museum is open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 5pm and costs $13. Have fun! 

Trip Focused Ideas

Meals on Wheels: Meals on Wheels helps those in need and those who cannot go out and get food for themselves. Their mission is to provide hot, home-delivered meals, five days a week to those who, due to illness, age, or disability, are unable to provide proper nutrition for themselves. There are volunteer opportunities to drive meals to homebound and to assist in meal preparation.
