PLEASE NOTE: The duration of this trip is spent on Catalina Island, so there will likely not be allotted free time outside of the duration of time between the group's arrival to California and their departure to Catalina Island itself. If there is enough free time, these are some potential ideas for things to do.
1) Griffith Park: this park spans 4,310 acres, making it one of the largest urban parks in North America. It has been referred to as the Central Park of Los Angeles but is larger and more rugged than CP. This would be a good place for your group to walk around a bit after a long day of travel.
2) La Brea Tar Pits and Museum: the La Brea Tar Pits are a registered National Natural Landmark that has existed for many centuries. It is a group of tar pits in Los Angeles which has had natural asphalt seeping up from the ground for tens of thousands of years. The museum is dedicated to researching the tar pits as well as displaying specimens from animals that have died because of the seeping tar. Admission is $10 for students who bring their college ID.
Due to the nature of this trip, any cancelations of events on the itinerary will be given a substitute by the host site.
